MMA GRAPPLING WORKOUT – BARBELL COMPLEX

Okay, so maybe not the exact Randy Couture Grappling workout, but I am quite sure that he would approve. This is the FunkMMA version of the workout.  Check out  my beard from the past.

I also added the Original Randy Couture Workout. Watch them both.

MMA GRAPPLING WORKOUT – BARBELL COMPLEX

Grappling and MMA fighting strength consists of power, explosion, muscular endurance, core strength and conditioning. This Barbell Complex Workout targets all aspects. 

In this complex, you will use the same amount of weight for each exercise – go light to start (25lbs per side) and work your way up as you get stronger over the weeks.  Even though it’s seems light at the beginning you will be begging for mercy after a few sets.

This workout is also a good replacement for interval training, bodyweight circuits, or high intensity cardio.

For all you MMA TOUGH GUYS and GALS out there, if you want a challenging workout, or want to change up your boring routine, this is IT.  Add this to your arsenal of workouts.  You can use this on your strength and power day.

No Barbells? Modify this workout with dumbbells (Check out the FatGripz Workout)

 MMA GRAPPLING WORKOUT – BARBELL COMPLEX

In this 7×8 circuit,  you will do seven exercises for eight repetitions each.

Perform 8 reps of each exercise one after the other with no rest in between. 

 

 

Here is the workout

  1. Bent rows x8
  2. Upright rows x8
  3. Military press x8
  4. Stiff Legged Deadlifts x8
  5. Lunges x8 (each leg)
  6. Squat x8
  7. Deadlift x8

Rest for 2 minutes in between sets.

Do 3-5 sets depending on how much you feel.

 I will tell you that after 3 sets, I was absolutely dead.
