If you don’t know Mac Danzig he won Season 6 of the Ultimate Fighter and was also King of the Cage World Champion.
This is an awesome interview with Mac Danzig. I love his training philosophies and he is an amazing guy. You must watch and listen to what Mac says about strength and conditioning for MMA Athletes.
One thing that sticks out in my mind from speaking with Mac is that he said the worst thing in the world is to have everything perfect, skill, technique, your mind, but your body falls apart because of the lack if conditioning.
Mac talks about the routines that he needs in his workout: sprints, circuit training (di i hear Spartacus workout), and Olympic lifting moves. He talks about the workout he hates to do, but needs to have it in his training.
He also talks about including Plyometrics, Static Strength, Isometric training and sparring into your regime.
He will tell you the fight that he has been in his best condition and the worst.
INTERVIEW QUESTION OF THE DAY: Who would you fight if you had the choose between a More Skilled Fighter who is Less Conditioned or More Conditioned Fighter that is Less Skilled? – Check out Mac’s answer
