We (Angela and I) visited and trained at 13 Coins Muay Thai Gym in Bangkok, Thailand this past January 2011. In fact we ended up there twice during our visit to Thailand, this one wasn’t planned. I got here after my fight in Chiang Mai. It is close to the Bangkok airport and just outside the city, so a perfect place to settle if still want close access to the hustle and bustle of Bangkok
The accommodations are great as 13 Coins is actually a resort first and Muay Thai gym second. For about $30.00 CDN a day you are set. The food is unbelievable. We ate like Kings and Queens while were there and Mr. Coke the owner treated us like Royalty. He is an amazing host.
Training
Imagine being trained by some of the best Muay Thai fighters in Thailand. The legendary Orono is still there along with other trainers, Unfortunately Saenchai and Pornsenah are gone, but sometimes make cameo appearances.
We loved the training facility as you can see in the video. It is so amazing and you get engulfed in the Muay Thai atmosphere with a little Mr. Coke flair added to it. If you are going to Thailand
Training consisted of 30-45 minute run in the parking lot. Then you skip, shadowbox and hit the bag. Then it was hitting pads. Angela and I usually did 5 rounds of 5 minutes and then once we were done it was technique and clinching. End off with a stretch and two and a half hours later, you are done!
I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYONE GOING TO BANGKOK TO STAY AND TRAIN AT 13 COINS MUAY THAI GYM AND RESORT. WE HAVE ALREADY SENT TWO DIFFERENT SETS OF FIGHTERS THERE TO TRAIN AND THEY WERE VERY HAPPY.
