FUNK TABATA 32 MMA WORKOUT #1

The Tabata Workout was invented by Dr. Izumi Tabata at the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo, Japan. The basic 20 second exercise principle goes like this: A Tabata interval is 20 seconds of concentrated work followed by 10 seconds of resting. Eight intervals of one specific 20 second exercise must be completed before moving on to the next. Sound easy? Not! But remember, Dr. Tabata and his group emphasize the fact that “High-intensity exercise cannot be prescribed for individuals at risk for health problems or for obese people who are not used to exercise”.

1) For 20 seconds, do as many repetitions as possible.

2) Rest for 10 seconds

3) Repeat 7 more times!

One of the most effective and quickest  ways to burn fat and help with conditioning.  Used by many MMA Fighters in their training.

10 SECONDS REST

COMPLETE ALL ROUNDS FOR ONE EXERCISE AND THEN MOVE ONTO THE NEXT EXERCISE

  1. WARRIOR LUNGE 4 LEFT AND 4 RIGHT
  2. PUSH UPS
  3. SPRINGS UP
  4. SHUTTLE RUNS

COMPLETE ALL ROUNDS WITHOUT REST

32 ROUNDS IN TOTAL – 16 MINUTES OF WORKOUT TIME

    hey funk! great workout!

    just a quick question though…can i do something else other than the shuttle runs? basically i’m doing these in my basement. the room is pretty small, can i substitute jumping jacks? burpees?

    any suggestions would be appreciated! thanks!

    Hey Jeff,
    All of the above..Jumping jacks, burpees will be tough, split squats, wide leg runs, high knees…You will be surpised who taxing all these exercises are when doing them using the TABATA protocol
